Work has begun this week to create the new Bebe’s Hive home in Southport.
Bebe’s Hive CIC was launched earlier this year to offer a safe, creative place for children to explore grief in their own way.
It was born from the loss of much-loved Bebe King, aged 6; rooted in love; and guided by Bebe.
Construction is now taking place to develop this life-changing new facility inside the former Sefton Council One Stop office inside Cambridge Arcade in Southport town centre.
Bebe’s Hive said: “The start of our renovation journey!
“The very first steps of turning our space into a home for grieving children and families.
“Phil, Andy, Ian and Liam from Kingswood Homes, along with Jeff and Charlie from Deegan Electricals, kindly gave up a full day from their normal work to help us clear and prep the premises ready for renovation.
“They grafted all day, and we are beyond grateful.
“We’ll say it and keep on saying it – our community really is the best.
“Nick Knowles, eat your heart out… welcome to Southport DIY SOS!”
Kingswood Homes said: “At Kingswood Homes we are proud to be involved in supporting Bebe’s Hive in Southport.
“This week our amazing team members Phil, Andy, Ian and Liam, alongside Jeff and Charlie from Deegan Electricals, dedicated their day to help clear and prep their space for renovation
“Bebe’s Hive will soon be a vital sanctuary for grieving children and families, and we’re honoured to support their journey from the very first steps
“Watch this space to see The Hive’s transformation!”
The new Bebe’s Hive hub will be situated just a few steps away from the Town Hall Gardens on Lord Street, which are about to be transformed into an exciting new family-friendly events space in a £10 million redevelopment led by the families of Bebe, Elsie and Alice.
Bebe’s Hive said: “This location couldn’t feel more right. It sits close to some of Bebe’s favourite places – the library and The Atkinson, but also near the very spot where our community gathered to hold us in love after we lost Bebe, Elsie and Alice. It’s also next to the future Town Hall Gardens, a place full of hope and togetherness.
“The site has so much unlocked potential! It’s a big job ahead, but one we are ready to take on with love, determination, and the support of our Hivers.
“We owe huge thanks to Sefton Council for helping make this dream a reality, and to our incredible Bebe’s Hive core team, who have proven we are UNSTOPPABLE and determined to do good whatever gets put in our way.
“But most of all – THANK YOU.
“Every donation, every tee worn with pride, every tote carried, every visit to our stalls, every fundraiser organised, every like, share, message and word of kindness – you’ve all played a part in giving us this safe, special home for little hearts who need it most.
“Please keep supporting us in whatever way you can – together, we’re building something that will truly last.”
