Event organiser Linda Howard said: “Step back in time and join us for a 1940s street party on Botanic Road in the heart of Churchtown Village.
“Bring your nearest and dearest and enjoy this nostalgic event!
“We are hoping it is going to be a fantastic day – and also the first of many!
“There are some really popular 1940s themed events which take place in other parts of the country, and we thought this was something which would work really well in Southport.
“Churchtown is the perfect setting to host it, with all the beautiful thatched cottages, the unique shops and pubs – it is such an historic Village. It will look fabulous.
“With this being the 80th anniversary of the end of the Second World War, it seems like the right time to host a 1940s themed street party.
“Initially we did think of timing it for the VE Day celebrations, but there was lots happening already in May, and we decided to go for this date instead.
“We have some superb entertainment for people to enjoy throughout the day with Yooks Ukulele Band, Beverley Alexander, the Sea Cadets, Wrights Performing Arts and the Wellbeing Choir, all hosted by the brilliant Bayside Lindy, who are very interactive with the crowds, and great at getting people up and dancing.
“We will have some military vehicles and military re-enactors, which should be popular with the Dads!
“We’ll have some fairground rides for children to enjoy too and lots of market stalls.
“There is lots happening. It is going to be a really fun day!
“We’d love to see as many people coming down dressing up in their best 1940s attire and really getting into the spirit of the event.
“Churchtown is a fabulous place – we would love to see lots of families coming to our 1940s Street Party, seeing all that Churchtown has to offer and then hopefully deciding to keep coming back.”
