The second CASA (Climate And Sustainability Action) meeting has taken place, with a day of Inspiration at Southport Eco Centre.
The CASA events are organised by the new Hearth CIC, which is keen to work with local families and businesses to learn from each other and embrace a more sustainable lifestyle.
The Hearth directors Rebecca Armstrong and Nadia Speers-Robinson said:
“On Thursday we held the second meeting of CASA (Climate And Sustainability Action) – our growing sustainable business network – and what a day it was!
“We gathered at the brilliant Southport Eco Centre, where we were treated to an inspiring tour of their incredible facilities.
“Huge thanks to Darren for sharing the centre’s powerful work with us – from educating schools on a range of topics such as air pollution, exploring Stone Age communities in our region, and understanding our changing coastal climate.
“The immersive suite at Southport Eco Centre was absolutely mind-blowing!
“After soaking in all that inspiration, we rolled up our sleeves and began planning for Earth Day 2026. Let’s just say… some very exciting collaborations are on the horizon!
“And of course, a massive thank you to Dilek for the unforgettable pistachio kunafa cookies – if you tried them at our Great Big Green Lunch, you know we’re not exaggerating when we say they’re out of this world!
“We’re so proud of the energy and ideas flowing through CASA – together, we’re building a more sustainable Southport.
“If you’d involved in a business in Sefton and would like to join us for future CASA meetings,or would like to learn more about The Hearth, please get in touch – we’d love to hear from you.”
The Hearth CIC is a new community organisation that hosted its first big event, Earth Day, at Wayfarers Arcade in April.
This free, family-friendly event celebrated sustainability and empowered attendees with practical ways to save money on energy bills while making a positive impact on the planet.
Plans are already underway to create an even bigger Earth Day event for 2026.
