Meols Cop High School has been honoured as one of the top three schools in Sefton in the 2024 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards.

The school, on Meols Cop Road in Southport, was celebrated as a Finalist in a very competitive Sefton School of The Year category, sponsored by Southport College

It was the only high school in Sefton to make the top three, with the category won by Holy Trinity Primary School in Southport and Star Of The Sea Primary School in Seaforth recognised as the second Finalist.

Meols Cop  prides itself on “not only raising aspirations but supporting students to Broker Aspirations”.

It has earned its place as the heartbeat of the local community, with students able to access a highly skilled staff team which have been nationally recognised for the quality of teaching and learning.

A commitment to high impact inclusive education ensures that every student develops the skills and values allowing them to be confident learners and valuable leaders in the local community. Meols Cop is part of Southport Learning Trust, a family of schools which also includes Bedford Primary, Birkdale High, Greenbank High, Kew Woods Primary, Maghull High and Stanley High.

One nomination to the Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards said: “In all my years of teaching I have never worked in such an inclusive, forward-thinking, driven school with the care of the children and staff at the heart of everything that staff do.

“The recent addition of the Garden Room, the expansion of the mentor team and LRC provision for SEND students is a classic example of the inclusive environment provided for students. “Alongside this the opportunities afforded to students within the school are incredible from unique residentials, to extra-curricular clubs. to sporting activities, to charity work, to school shows, Meols Cop has something for all, to enable the young people who attend to find their ‘tribe’.

“The careers team at Meols Cop spend time creating individual action plans for all students so that each student leaving Meols Cop in Year 11 will be fully equipped to succeed as they embark on their next journey into further education or the world of work.

“Meols Cop is a unique place where all staff work together to ensure that every pupil is safe, happy and ready for their next steps in life, whatever they may be.”
