People in the thriving arts and cultural sectors in Southport came together to see how they can work together to stage the exciting new Southport Arts Festival this summer.

The Southport Arts Festival will take place at a variety of venues throughout Southport between Saturday, 2nd August 2025 and Sunday, 10th August 2025.

The Festival is being organised by the new Southport Arts Initiative CIC.

At a public meeting at Southport Market, the group invited anyone with an interest in the arts to come together and see how they can take part in this vibrant event.

This summer, Southport Arts Festival will present a nine day cultural celebration of Southport including music, theatre, performance, dance, visual arts, crafts, poetry, film and new media in venues across Southport from Churchtown to Ainsdale and from Kew to Birkdale.

Anyone who would like to get involved is invited to email: southportartsinitiative@gmail.com

Tony Wynne, the Director of the Southport Arts Initiative CIC, said:

“The Southport Arts Initiative team hosted an open meeting at Southport Market last night to discuss ideas for this summer’s Southport Arts Festival.

“Members from Southport’s creative community were joined by local councillors and representatives of the education and business sectors.

“It was a very positive meeting with many constructive proposals put forward.

“It was another great example of Southport’s cultural community helping in the regeneration of our town.”

Southport is a vibrant and creative town with many, many people involved in some form of cultural activity.

This could be a choir, a painting group, a poetry group, artisans working in craft-making, dance schools, theatre groups, film-makers, young bands recording their first studio session or a singer-songwriter nervously playing their first gig.

Southport Arts Initiative’s objective is not just about producing an annual nine-day Festival, it goes far beyond that.

It is about helping to nurture and support the incredible creative talent that Southport has.
