Community Link Foundation (CLF) has awarded a grant to Asthma Relief to purchase five nebulisers for Southport Hospital

Southport Hospital has five new nebulisers on the wards, thanks to funding from Community Link Foundation.

This brings the total number of nebulisers bought by CLF for Asthma Relief to use across Southport, to 22. They are placed between Queenscourt Hospice, Abbendon Nursing Home, Manchester House Care Home, and Southport & Formby District General Hospital.

Asthma Relief applied to CLF last month for a grant to enable them to buy a further five nebulisers for use to be used on wards at the hospital.

A nebuliser is a drug delivery device used to administer respiratory medication in the form of a fine mist which is inhaled. Nebulisers can be very effective and are quick and easy to use. The equipment is not routinely available on the NHS.

Asthma Relief is a charity dedicated to improving the quality of life and care of those who live with chronic respiratory related illnesses by offering respiratory equipment donation and support service.

Patricia Davis, charity manager at Asthma Relief, said: “The nebuliser machines can be in use for a number of years, so it becomes clear how very significant the support of Community Link Foundation is. On behalf of the many patients who continue to benefit from your kindness, we would like to say another very big ‘thank you’!”

Enda Rylands, Chair of Community Link Foundation, said: “I am incredibly pleased that we have been able to provide funding to Asthma Relief for five nebulisers to be used at Southport Hospital.

“This contribution shows our ongoing commitment to supporting the health and wellbeing of people in our community. We are grateful to all our supporters who make donations like this possible and support our efforts making a positive impact in the community.”
