Over 120 businesses from Sefton and the wider city region attended Sefton Council’s recent event at Crosby Lakeside Waterloo free event to find out more about the exciting projects taking shape in the Borough.
The presenters, who included Council Leader Marion Atkinson, the Council’s Executive Director of Regeneration, Stephen Watson, and Tony Howard of Cove Resorts told attendees how hundreds of millions of pounds in private and public investment is set to transform Bootle and Southport, over the coming years.
Schemes either underway or planned include the regeneration of Bootle with The Strand and Salt and Tar and the development of the new Marine Lake Events Centre in Southport. Others covered were Southport’s Enterprise Arcade, Market Quarter and Eastern Access, and the town’s Cove Resort.
Alongside the Council’s wider capital investment programmes, these all represent supply opportunities for Sefton and City Region businesses and will create job opportunities for local people. Moreover, the Council’s strategic investment programme is aiming to stimulate hundreds of millions of pounds of private sector led development across the borough, of which the Cove Resort is just one example.

Cllr Paulette Lappin, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Regeneration and Skills said:
“We’ve had some very positive feedback from businesses about this event which was a chance to talk about the exciting Sefton schemes that are underway or planned and the local opportunities they will create, including openings for women in construction.
“We also explained how we see these initiatives supporting Sefton Council’s social value agenda by creating opportunities from people who are care experienced or from protected characteristics groups as well as those who are from disadvantaged communities.
“Our aim was not only to share our ambition for the borough and our future, but also to continue discussions with current and potential supply chain partners about our priorities, and about theirs as well.
“Sefton is an incredibly exciting place to work, and we want Sefton Council to be an attractive partner to work with.”
