The award-winning Sunnyside Bed and Breakfast in Southport is gearing up for the year ahead by putting sustainability at the heart of its refurbishment.

The venue, on Bath Street in Southport, has been named as a Finalist in this year’s Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards in a number of categories: B&B and Guest House of the Year;  Accessible & Inclusive Tourism; and Ethical, Responsible and Sustainable Tourism Award.

They have been busy using sustainable timber; insulation made by recycled bottles; and improved soundproofing.

Owners Anthony and Larissa Duffey said: “It’s been another busy week for us at Sunnyside Guest House, and we wanted to share a little behind-the-scenes of what we’ve been up to.

“We’re always looking for ways to make Sunnyside even more welcoming, comfortable, and sustainable. So, this week’s refurb has been all about eco-friendly upgrades that make a real difference:

“FSC-Certified Timber – Sustainably sourced, because we care about the planet.

“500mm of Insulation – Made from recycled bottles, keeping you warm and reducing waste.

“15mm Fire Line Plasterboard – Extra safety for peace of mind.

“Improved Soundproofing – So you can enjoy the quiet, restful stay you deserve.

“We love creating a space where our guests feel right at home, and we can’t wait for you to experience these upgrades.

“See you soon at Sunnyside!”
