Runners and spectators are looking forward to the annual Southport Mad Dog 10K run, sponsored by Jollyes – The Pet People, which takes place this weekend.
The event was created to provide runners of all experiences with an unforgettable day along the (sometimes) sunny shores of Southport.
It takes place this Sunday (9th February 2025) with the Crazy Pups Race for under 16s starting at 10am with the main 10k race setting off at 10.40am.

The run has always started and finished at Stanley High School in Marshside but this year, for the first time, it will start and finish at the new location of Victoria Park in Southport.
Not only will you find live bands around the course, but each year there is a new event theme, and with that theme there is a fancy dress competition!
This year’s theme is: Dog Pool and Wolferine.
It is always a fun event with lots of runners in fancy dress; competitors from running clubs all over the country; people of all ages and abilities; and live music at stages around the scenic course.
The Mad Dog 10K, sponsored by Jollyes – The Pet People, isn’t just for runners—it’s a day for the whole family.
Organisers said: “We’ve reluctantly had to change our beloved route this year due to construction, but we’ve worked hard to keep all the iconic scenery you love—and it’s still flat for our runners!
“This year, we’re thrilled to announce that the start and finish will be in the beautiful Victoria Park in Southport! Not only will this give our runners more space to enjoy the day, but it also means convenient parking right by the start / finish line!”
