The Ship & Anchor pub in Southport is closing its doors.
The popular live music venue, on Cable Street in Southport town centre, will shut for the last time on 25th February 2023.
They are asking customers to join them as they “go out with a bang”.
It is the latest in a series of Southport pubs to go in recent years including: The Old Ship, The George, The Plough, The London, The Blundell Arms, The Phoenix, The Victoria and The Falstaff, among others.
Hospitality businesses are being hit by the rising costs of goods and employing staff, help with energy bills being dramatically reduced from April, and customers continuing to tighten their belts during the cost of living crisis.
In a post, Charlie and Steve from the Ship & Anchor said: “It is with heavy heart that we are writing this post but unfortunately The Ship & Anchor will sadly be closing its doors on 25th February.
“We have had an amazing four years here, it’s been truly an honour to have served you all as you have not just been customers but have become amazing friends that we will love and miss very dearly.
“This pub wouldn’t have become what it is if It hadn’t been for all of your support over the years.
“So going to throw out some thanks yous, to our amazing staff past and present we owe you a debt of gratitude for working your ass off and putting up with me and Steve, to all the bands that have played here thank you for everything that you brought to our venue (and boy did you bring it), to all the clubs that made this their home it’s been an honour.
“A huge thank you to each and every single one of you that has walked through this door, without you this wouldn’t have been possible.
“We are truly humbled by all the support we have had. You will all be missed and never forgotten.
“And lastly a huge thank you to my amazing husband Steve for giving me dream of having my own pub it truly has been amazing.
“Our last weekend will be 24-25th February let’s go out with a bang!
“Love and respect to you all.”
