Bliss Hotel in Southport

Bliss Hotel in Southport is continuing to trade as usual as a new buyer is sought.

The hotel, on the Waterfront, was placed in administration last month.

The administrators say it’s business as usual for the venue, with a number of events and functions booked in and bookings already being made for people looking forward to attending the Eurovision contest in Liverpool in May next year.

Paul Davies and Sandra Mundy, partners of James Cowper Kreston, were appointed joint administrators of Waterfront Hotels (Southport) Limited and Waterfront Southport Properties Limited, trading as Bliss Hotel Southport, on September 28, 2022.

In a statement, Paul said: “We are continuing to trade the business as usual whilst we look for a buyer for the business as a going concern.

“At this time we have no plans to make any changes to the team structure and we will be honouring all function bookings.”

Bliss Hotel in Southport was put up for sale in September.

Owners Waterfront Southport Properties Ltd. had invested millions of pounds in improving the former Ramada Plaza Hotel, creating two penthouse suites, renovating rooms, upgrading the kitchen, terrace and dining area, and introducing the Bliss Space events space overlooking the Marine Lake.

The hotel is in a prime spot in Southport, directly next to the proposed new £73million Marine Lake Events Centre and light show on the Marine Lake.

Sefton Council submitted a full planning application for theMarine Lake Events Centre scheme earlier this year, with a forecast that it will attract 515,000 additional visitors to the area and will generate nearly 60,000 overnight stays from conferences and events.

Waterfront Southport Properties Ltd has instructed the operational real estate team at CBRE in Manchester to market Bliss Hotel.

The hotel boasts 131 bedrooms and penthouses, a lounge bar, restaurant, roof garden, gym, conferencing and events space, as well as secure underground car parking for 120 cars.

The hotel underwent a £15m refurbishment programme in 2019.

Shaun Skidmore, senior director at CBRE Manchester, said:

“We are delighted to work with Waterfront Southport Properties to market the recently upscaled luxury boutique hotel, which is in a prime position to the progressing events centre and exciting waterfront development.

“The area is primed to attract a host of economic benefits thanks to this highly significant, multi-million pound regeneration scheme.”

The asking price for the hotel has not been disclosed.
