The Sidney Road Lights in Southport

People can enjoy an eggs-traordinary light show in Southport this Easter!

The iconic Sidney Road Lights is back with a special easter themed show on Good Friday, Saturday, Easter Sunday and Easter Monday.

Thousands of lights will shimmer in time to music outside the home on Sidney Road in Southport of local engineer and lights enthusiast Steve Henshall.

Attendance is free, with visitors invited to donate what they can to support Freshfields Animal Rescue

Steve said: “We’re delighted to announce that our Easter light show will be running from 8pm until 10pm on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

“We have a bigger and brighter show than last year with the addition of three rabbits and a dozen daisies to make the spring evenings sparkle!

“Shows are run with the help of our good friends at Chocolate Whirled on Manchester Road who have the best artisan chocolate treats especially their XL eggs!

“The Freshfields Animal Rescue collection box will be set up on the gatepost so if you have any loose coins weighing your pocket down please drop them in the box to help all the homeless and injured animals Freshfields help every day.”

The idea for the Sidney Road Lights began 21 years ago, and the displays have been getting bigger and better ever since.

Thousands of families have had huge enjoyment from Steve’s incredible community spirit over the years.

It began in 2001 when Steve and his family first moved to Southport and they put up a few festoons of coloured lights for Christmas. The displays have grown in size ever since.
