On the corner of Lord Street and Leicester Street is Hatton’s – ‘distributors of Austin cars’.
The building was previously home to Pizza Express, until the restaurant relocated further along Lord Street, into the premises previously occupied by Ask.
The first photo features the late Brian Aughton from Tarleton Specimen Plants cutting trees on Albert Road in Southport, where the Cathay Gardens restaurant and the Sandown Court block of flats now stand.

Last week the building was put up for rent by Southport estate agent David Davies Sales & Lettings, sparking huge interest in the site.
Our second picture shows Rev and Mrs Ian Sumner together with some of the young people who raised over £100 for the Zimbabwe Youth Project by taking part in a 24 hour sponsored cook, clean and play at Victoria Methodist Church in Southport in June 1983.
