A beer garden ‘oasis’ in Southport town centre is reopening this weekend – following a successful campaign by the pub’s regulars!
The MonumenT pub and sports bar, on the corner on Hoghton Street and London Street, created its new outdoor area during the Covid lockdown last year.
Set behind the venue, it is one of Southport’s hidden gems.
The pub was due to remain closed until 17th May, when the Prime Minister is expected to allow all indoor hospitality venues to be able to reopen.
But with Bank Holiday Weekend approaching, locals at The MonumenT have been pleading with landlord Martin Rowe to reopen early so they can revisit their favourite beer garden.
Martin said: “We have been asked and asked and asked by our regulars to open up ‘The Oasis’ beer garden!
“So as not to disappoint we are reopening at 11am this Saturday (1st May).

“There is no booking required, we look forward to seeing everyone back!
“We are doing first come first served with table seating, we don’t want to become victims of the ‘no shows’.
“We are very much looking forward to reopening, I just wish there was more we could do in terms of staging live music.
“When we reopen we will be trialing opening hours of midday to 8pm or 9pm Sunday to Thursday, and 11am to 10pm or 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays, and will see how we go.”
