People in Southport are being invited to build their own scarecrow – and help Southport Foodbank in the process.
The Southport scarecrow trial is the idea of local performance and mindset coach Michala Leyland to cheer everyone up and make a difference during the November lockdown.
Michala has launched her #BeTheDifferenceNov campaign to help anyone who is struggling with the uncertainty of the current Covid-19 restrictions.
Michala, who runs Wood for the Trees Coaching, says making the scarecrows is a fun and imaginative thing for people to do while helping to raise some money for a great cause – Compassion Acts, which runs Southport Foodbank.
She said: “Do you want to join me in making a difference? I’m raising money in aid of Compassion Acts Limited and every donation will help. Thank you in advance for your contribution.
“Times are tough for many during these strange times and we can make a small difference.
“First, donate whatever you can afford whether that be £5/£10/£20 plus to the gofundme page here.
“Second, make a fun scarecrow for your garden.
“Get imaginative and bring a smile to the face of people walking around your neighbourhood on their daily constitutional.
“If you want to make it Christmas themed, go for it, or simply use up any clothes you’ve not been able to recycle.
“Third, share your photos of your scarecrow display on the Stand Up For Southport Facebook group and use the #bethedifferencenov hashtag.
“I’ve set up the donation page to go directly to the foodbanks that cover Ainsdale, Southport, Formby, Hillside and Birkdale.
“Most of all have fun as we raise a few much needed pounds and put smiles on faces, including yours. Right, I had best get making my scarecrow!
“The timeframe between now and the current end of lockdown 2nd December.”
