The Birkdale Support Group of Queenscourt Hospice in Southport is delighted to announce the return of its musical fundraiser after an unexpected hiatus.

Phil Shotton Swingshift Band and vocalists will be performing at the Little Theatre on Hoghton Street in Southport town centre on Saturday 30th October 2021 at 7.30pm.

You can snap up a ticket for only £10 and support a vital local cause as well as enjoying a sublime evening of entertainment.

The Little Theatre on Hoghton re-opened formally in August and has now enjoyed multiple productions, whilst adhering to ‘See it Safely’ standards.

The evening has been arranged by Chair of the Support Group and dedicated educator, actor and producer Margaret Mann. She has been dedicated to this role for many years and is well known for her skills in organising and fundraising.

She notes that the past 18 months have been tough for the local hospice. However, she is proud of the achievements of the Birkdale Support Group, which was able to fundraise through lockdown.

It did this via a lottery and additional donations. This allowed it to buy canopies for room doors providing safe shelter for distanced visitors as well as light-weight trolleys to lighten the load of the staff and volunteers.

Talented band leader and conductor Phil Shotton is a highly regarded international jazz performer.  He is renowned for being able to assemble a top notch array of performers as well as compering any and all events with humour and panache.  He has released two albums under his own name, and appeared on numerous additional recordings.

For this event, he has assembled a ‘Mini Big Band’ to ensure safety is considered at all times.  He will be joined by brilliant vocalists Chris James and Corinne Andrew to bring you the swing music of Glenn Miller, Frank Sinatra and many more.

We all know someone who has had the comfort and support of our beloved Hospice, and now more than ever they need our support.

The evening promises to be uplifting and rewarding, so snap up your tickets as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.

If you are unavailable that evening, but you would like to make a donation or supply a raffle prize, this will also be welcomed.

For tickets, or to make a donation, please contact Margaret Mann on 01704 560607, or email margaret-ray@uwclub.net to obtain tickets and further details.
