West Street in Southport will be temporarily closed to traffic in May to allow for further improvements to Scarisbrick Avenue in a £1million redevelopment.

A partial road closure of West Street, which cuts through the centre of Scarisbrick Avenue, is required while improvements are made to the footpath.

In order for the works to be carried out safely and effectively, West Street, from the junction with Waverley Street, will be closed between May 9th and May 27th.

Access for emergency vehicles and residents of West Street will be maintained wherever possible.

Work has already begun to improve Scarisbrick Avenue, including the installation of new paving, enhanced street lighting, improved pedestrian crossings, environmental additions and rejuvenated signage.

A diversion will be in place for motorists via Waverley Street, Lord Street, Nevill Street and West Street.
