This summer, Volunteer Centre Sefton has plenty of volunteer roles for you to get involved in.

We are working with Stand Up for Southport to provide a monthly update on volunteering across the Southport and Formby area.

You can help yourself get fit by becoming a volunteer walk leader, help kids gain confidence by volunteering with the Scouts or assist those with disabilities to get more out of life.

 Walk Leaders

Do you love walking and getting out and about? Then volunteer to be a walk leader for Active Walks Sefton! They are looking for volunteers to help them lead walks across the Southport and Formby areas. There are seven walks altogether and full walk leader training is provided.

You will need to commit to 2-3 hours per week or fortnightly if shared with another volunteer which includes, planning the route and leading the walk, it will vary each week. There are over 400 schemes across the country like Sefton’s, providing regular wellbeing walks for local communities to benefit their health and wellbeing.

 Peer Mentors

Buddy Up is a mentoring and befriending project which aims to match young people aged 13 to 18 who have additional needs and attend special educational schools with mentors.

Mentors are there to help support, plan and facilitate individual activities or a group activity, which you may need to encourage and help others engage with. Volunteers may also help set up the club before our participants arrive, offering snacks and making drinks when needed.

 5th Formby Scout Group

The 5th Formby Scout Group are looking for volunteers!  Based in Formby United Reform Church, they would welcome volunteers to help with running all three of their Sections:

  •         Beavers 6-8 years
  •         Cubs 8-10 1/2 years
  •         Scouts 101/2 – 14 years of age.

These sections run on Monday, Tuesday and Friday evenings respectively. It’s a rewarding role, teaching skills for life to young people. This can be anything from boiling an egg to pitching a tent!

Digital Inclusion Volunteer – Galloway’s

Galloways Society for the Blind is looking for Digital Inclusion Champions to deliver their Assistive Technology service. Technology is the future and they want to ensure that people living with sight loss have the same opportunities to discover the wide availability of accessible and mainstream technology. Volunteers will work alongside Galloway’s Learning Skills Coordinators to help facilitate technology drop-in days by demonstrating and supporting clients with smartphones, tablets, computers and assistive software.
