Red Nose Day is back today! And staff at the TK Maxx store in Southport town centre have been doing all they can to raise money for Comic Relief.

The store, at Marble Place in Southport town centre, is once again selling Red Nose Day branded t-shirts and notepads, with all proceeds going to the charity.

Members of staff have also been busy doing their own fundraising, including a 100-mile cycling challenge, fun and games in store and a 17.6 mile walking challenge.

This year’s Red Nose Day takes place today, Friday, 18th March 2022, with people asked to fundraise, buy, or donate, you can help people live free from poverty, violence and discrimination. You can make a difference.

Staff at TK Maxx have already raised thousands of pounds for the charity, including a fun Comic Relief Hoop-A-Thon challenge last Sunday! Eden Tinsley at Eden Events organised the day.

Around £1,000 has also been raised through a sponsored walk.

TK Maxx Southport Store Manager Carl Pearson said: “We completed the 18 mile walk that I organised, joined by a team from stores across our Merseyside district, on Saturday 5th March.

“Through our JustGiving pages, store donations and donations from passers-by along the way we have raised just under £1,000 for this one event across the district team with more fundraising still to be collected and counted.

“The priority this year was to have fun and get customers and the community involved and as a result we are raising more than we have in any other campaign.

“On a separate note we have, like many other businesses locally, got involved in collecting donations for the Ukraine appeals. My team have made personal donations and have also asked that we use a fund in store, usually used for team building and celebrations, to instead buy essential supplies that we can add to collections locally.

“As such we have taken £400 out of this fund and this is to be matched by our business as part of their corporate stance to support local humanitarian activities and support the people of Ukraine.”

Staff at TK Maxx in Southport are inviting people to join them in supporting this year’s Comic Relief Appeal.

Carl Pearson said: “In store we are selling the official Red Nose Day t-shirts and notepads with designs commissioned from 11 artists.

“The specially created diverse range features amazing artwork delivered by artists from different disciplines, communities and backgrounds, making this year’s t-shirt collection the most unique yet with something for everyone. All profits go to Comic Relief.”
