Thousands of people enjoyed the Birkdale Village Summer Fayre in Southport on Sunday.

The popular annual event was organised by Birkdale Civic Society and saw the road through the centre of the Village closed off as families made the most of a whole host of attractions.

Between 10am and 6pm, they admired dozens of classic cars from the 1920s to the modern day on display.

The cars were lined up along Liverpool Road, on Weld Parade and in the car park behind VIP HQ.

They included a classic New York taxi, old police cars, classic taxis, a military vehicle and many more.

Children loved trying out fairground rides of all shapes and sizes.

Many people entered their pets into the dog shows at Birkdale Conservative Club, hosted by the fantastic Max from Milla & Max Grooming.

Singers and bands provided live entertainment throughout the day while there were a variety of craft stalls and food stalls from the likes of Pitamu, Graham Eyes Butchers and Chris Stead’s The Ready Steady Chef.

Tables outside and inside the Village’s many restaurants, cafes and bars were packed with diners soaking up the atmosphere.
