Thousands of people enjoyed the Birkdale Christmas Fayre on Sunday (3rd December 2023).
The Village became a winter wonderland with visits by Santa, choirs, fairground rides, food stalls and more.
The village is famous for its wide range of quality local independent traders – not many villages still have a fishmonger, a greengrocer, a butcher and even a cheese shop!
Birkdale traders presented special offerings on the day while a host of external traders brought street food from around the world.
It was the perfect chance for people to indulge in some Christmas shopping with hand-crafted gifts, perfect for those seeking one-of-a-kind gifts for loved ones.
Entertainment was in abundance, with live music, dance acts, Dune Radio, and heart-warming performances by local school choirs.
Talented children from Birkdale and Farnborough Road primary schools entertained the crowds.
There was festive music from two local choirs, The Atkinson Choir and the ‘Rock Choir’ plus two dance acts from Central Dance and Zapa Dance.
The Christmas tree light switch-on, outside Spar, took place at 5pm.
Fiona McGregor from Birkdale-based social media agency One Media Solutions said: “A committee made up of Birkdale business owners and traders headed up by Birkdale Civic Society spent months organising the Christmas Fayre.
“We all worked so hard to bring the best Fayre yet.”
