The Windmill pub in Southport has raised an impressive £1,700 for the 281 (Southport) Squadron ATC.

The Royal Air Force Air Cadets unit is based in Southport.

Neil Walsh, one of the landlords at The Windmill, was delighted to officially present the cheque to the cadets at their weekly parade last night.

For many years, The Windmill has quietly supported the squadron and this donation culminates a few small fundraising efforts which have taken place this year.

Neil said: “The Royal Air Force Cadets for many are the first steps into a career in the sky, but it also helps develop many skills for young people, and many of them are led and run by adult volunteers giving up many hours a week.

“You’ll be able to see 281 Squadron on parade this Friday at the rededication of Southport War Memorial by Princess Anne.”
