As part of their National Apprenticeship Week celebrations, Southport College was proud to host their annual Apprenticeship Information Fair.
The event, held on Tuesday, brought over 600 young people from schools across Sefton and West Lancashire together with over 25 different employers and organisations, to allow them to find out about the wide range of apprenticeships on offer in the area.
The employers in attendance all work closely with the college and ranged from successful local companies such as Pleasureland, Fletcher’s Solicitors, Tower Heating and Chapel House Motors, to large organisations including the Armed Forces, NHS, McDonalds, Prison Service, Merseyside Police and Sefton Council.
Southport College Principal, Michelle Brabner, said:
“This is such a positive event and we are so grateful to all the employers and organisations who have given up their time to join us to support and advise the young people who attended. We really appreciate it and I know the learners have found talking to them about the individual apprenticeship opportunities they offer both interesting and beneficial.”
The visiting students also enjoyed a talk from Paris Bonwick, Assistant Principal at the College, explaining all about Apprenticeships, how they differ from a full time course and how “earning whilst your learning” could be a great route to their dream career.
Southport College is the largest provider of apprenticeships in the area. It offers a really high quality experience and works with a wide range of employers, both national and local, to tailor make the right training for the needs of their business or organisation.
