Lightport is coming to Southport on 14th-16th February 2026 thanks to Seftobn Council's Tourism team through Lucid Creates

Southport is getting ready for the brand new Lightport event this February which will make our town “glow like never before”.

Lightport takes place in the town centre from Saturday 14th February to Monday 16th February 2026, and will be free to attend.

Lucid Creates will bring a range of neon, colour, rainbows, immersive installations and interactive light experiences that will transform Lord Street across the Valentine’s weekend.

LightPort offers businesses, families, locals and visitors the opportunity to enjoy a creative and vibrant light trail.

It will be an unmissable way for local residents and visitors from across the Liverpool City Region to start the Half Term weekend in unforgettable style.

Visitors can look forward to walk-through light sculptures, large-scale installations, interactive displays and much more.

The route will focus on Lord Street, with the trail designed to be immersive rather than observational.

Local businesses can participate by adding their own window displays and decorations to attract the crowds expected to stay until 9pm.

A successful Lightport event would increase town centre footfall, boost the evening economy, support independent traders and reinforce the identity of Lord Street.

Lightport is one of four brand new events being brought to Southport this year by Sefton Council’;s Tourism Team and Liverpool City Region Combined Authority.

Further Southport 2026 events include:

  • Cristal Palace – 3rd-4th April 2026
  • Big Top Festival – 2nd-3rd May 2026
  • Books Alive! – 24th-31st October 2026

These are in addition to The Open golf championship coming to Royal Birkdale Golf Club in Southport in July, along with regular major events such as Southport Flower Show, Southport Air Show and Southport Comedy Festival.

Throughout 2026, Southport will host a programme of new live events and cultural content all designed to showcase the best of the famous seaside town.

Organised in partnership with Sefton Council, the project aims to recapture the incredible heritage of Southport as a ‘playground for the north’.

Steve Rotheram, Mayor of Liverpool City Region said:

“Southport is one of the jewels in our region’s crown – a place that holds a special spot in people’s hearts, both here at home and far beyond.

“But what makes it special isn’t just the buildings or the beach – it’s the people, their creativity and their pride in the place they call home.

“That sense of pride and creativity runs right across the Liverpool City Region. Culture is a huge part of who we are; it’s what brings us together and sets us apart.

“Southport 2026 will bring all of that together and celebrate everything that makes Southport what it is today and everything it is becoming for the future.”
