Kirsty Thomas Horton and Fiona Swarbrick from Fletchers Solicitors, Southport were amongst
the many guests who joined Rainbow Hub, the North West charity supporting children with neurological disabilities, for one of their major celebrations in their 25th anniversary year.
Their company were also the sponsors of one of the highlights of the Rainbow Hub year –
Sports Week.
Rainbow Hub wanted to say a massive thank you to the fantastic businesses from the North West who make such an enormous contribution to help them continue their much needed services and they invited Scott to join them as guest speaker.
70 businesses attended a morning of thanks and inspiration on 25th June hosted by Kelly Bond
from Elle-Sera, Liverpool. Scott’s motivational sessions, based on his own experience, are designed to inspire, challenge and empower business leaders. During his 45 minute session he told the audience about his background and how he had gone about changing his life and how one positive decision can create lasting change. He then took questions from the audience which included comedian Colin Manford. During his visit he was presented with a picture of himself and his brothers created by the nursery children.
Another highlight of the morning was a big thank you from some of the children who attend Rainbow Hub who delighted everyone with their special performance of a world cup song.
Other businesses attending the event included Access4Lofts, Preston North End, Frank Whittle Partnership, TKMaxx, James Hall and Spar, Anwyl Homes, Brysdales, Ventbrook, Fox’s Biscuits, Bidfood, Slater & Gordon, Fleur Design and many more.
Lyndsay Fahey, CEO, Rainbow Hub, welcomed everyone and highlighted some of the support
during the past 12 months which included over £100,000 of donations from 42 companies; £74,000 of gifts in kind, together with raffle and auction prizes allowing Rainbow Hub to raise £160,000.
She said, “You guys are absolutely fantastic and you all make such a difference. Rainbow Hub is a really, really special place supporting 160 children with neurological conditions and their families throughout the year. Everything we do is about increasing independence and supporting the children and families to be the best they possibly can. With your help we make a huge difference so thank you all very much.”
Scott Thomas said, “a few months ago an email landed in my inbox that spoke to my heart and I couldn’t ignore it. It was from Rainbow Hub asking me to attend their 25th year celebration of
helping children with very rare neurological and physical disabilities. As soon as I got there I knew I was right to follow my intuition. The team behind the charity are so passionate about what they do and you could see they will go to any lengths to help these incredible children and their families.
“I was asked to speak to the team and the people who support the charity but, if I am honest, I spent a lot of my time listening – it was an eye opener for me. The smiles on these children’s faces despite such adversity remind me of what true resilience really looks like. The facilities, leaders and team all had a level of warmth and commitment that was beyond anything I’ve seen before. A day I won’t forget in a long time.”
During the morning, guests were able to view the facilities and see some of the children they help support taking part in Sports Week. This is one of the most special highlights of the year at Rainbow Hub. The incredible children put their skills to the test – rolling, stepping, crawling, throwing and so much more – all while being splattered with colour! Every move is a celebration of their progress made through participation in conductive education, a specialist approach to learning.
The event, kindly sponsored by Fletchers Solicitors, is a wonderful opportunity for all the children and young people accessing Conductive Education to take part in some exciting activities whilst demonstrating and celebrating some of the skills they have learnt throughout the past year at Rainbow Hub! Most importantly, every child is able to participate, have fun, win a medal, and feel included – regardless of their disability.

Thanks to the generosity of supporters, Arden Lea Nurseries, everyone was given a plant as a small gesture of thanks for their much appreciated contribution and Bidfood generously provided a delicious selection of snacks and welcome cold drinks.
Rainbow Hub has also launched a Corporate Patron Scheme where businesses can play a vital role in transforming the future of children with disabilities and empowering them to live more active, independent lives.
There are three levels of support – Friends Together £50 per month / Champions Together £150 per month / Visionaries Together £300 per month.
