Since 1987, the Southport Talking Newspaper has delivered local news to blind and partially sighted listeners throughout the Southport and Formby areas.
The weekly news service is a lifeline to many, and our listeners look forward greatly to receiving the next edition.
Every month, a talking magazine is also included, containing light-hearted quizzes, informative articles, stories and jokes.
Our main distribution method to the sight-impaired, is by a memory stick.
New listeners will receive a home visit, a boombox player and be given full instructions. They will then start to receive our weekly newspaper, all completely free of charge.
Potential listeners not eligible for our postal service, can still find us on the internet, through our webpage for example, or on a smartphone via the British Wireless for the Blind app, or on Alexa type devices.

The Southport Talking Newspaper is a registered charity which survives purely through donations and fundraising.
We have a team of some 45 volunteers performing a wide range of duties, from news gathering, editing, reading, copying and despatch, but we are always on the lookout for new volunteers,
particularly those with computer skills to help us move on to the next generation of newsgathering and distribution.
