Volunteers are the heart of Samaritans and are there for anyone who is going through a difficult time and needs someone to talk to.

Southport and District Samaritans, established in 1977, is based in Union Street and we’re looking for new volunteers to help keep this vital service running.

As a listening volunteer you’ll be there for people who are going through a difficult time and reach out for help.

You’ll be willing to listen, without telling people what to do. You’ll be welcomed into a warm and incredibly supportive environment.

All new volunteers are asked to attend one of our regular information evenings, which is an opportunity to learn about us and your role as a volunteer.

If you decide to apply, you’ll have an interview so we can get to know each other.

Listening volunteers will complete full training so you know what to say and do when callers reach out to us.

If you are interested in joining our team of listening volunteers at Southport & District Samaritans and would like to know more please email us at Southportsamaritans@gmail.com or visit our website Samaritans.org or phone or text us on 07467 491069.

You can get in touch about anything that’s troubling you, no matter how large or small the issue feels. Call for free on 116 123 or email jo@samaritans.org
