People are being urged to support a charity Summer Raffle, which has been launched to raise money for the RSPCA Southport, Ormskirk & District Branch.
Cecilia Duff, who works for the NHS at Southport Hospital, is one of the volunteers at the centre.
The proud owner of her own rescue cat, Poppadum, she has worked hard to put together a superb list of raffle prizes and is encouraging people to buy tickets.
Cecilia said: “I have put my heart and soul over the past four months into collecting over 100 amazing valuable raffle prizes with a lot of support from local businesses.
“We had a very successful Christmas 2020 Raffle, raising an incredible £2,247.00 for our Animal Centre.
“I believe the coverage which was published on Stand Up For Southport and through Southport BID helped us to reach this figure.”
People can buy raffle tickets by phoning Southport RSPCA on 01704 567624. Raffle tickets cost just £1 each. The draw will take place at the RSPCA centre.

The RSPCA Southport, Ormskirk & District Branch near Southport is completely reliant upon donations, legacies and monies raised through its RSPCA Charity Shop on Eastbank Street in Southport town centre, together with the public’s generous support of its locally-run fundraising events.
Its Animal Centre, located in New Cut Lane, on the Birkdale-Halsall border, covers Southport, Ormskirk and the surrounding areas as far south as Maghull.
The centre takes in, cares for, supports and helps rehabilitate needy animals whilst new homes are found for them.
Southport MP Damien Moore, who is a regular visitor to the RSPCA centre in Southport, is urging people to support the appeal.
He said: “RSPCA Southport does some truly remarkable work in our community to uphold the welfare of animals. The charity ensures that those animals in its care are re-homed at the earliest opportunity.
“To run the centre on New Cut Lane however costs a significant amount of money and relies almost entirely on fundraising activities led by local volunteers like Cecilia and voluntary contributions from individuals and local businesses.
“That’s why I would invite people in Southport to support the RSPCA in its summer raffle and to get behind this great cause.”
