Sefton Council Leader, Cllr Marion Atkinson, Southport Royal British Legion volunteers, veterans and cadets gathered for the launch of the 2024 Poppy Appeal at Southport Town Hall.

Southport RBL has now set up a stall outside Southport War Memorial, in Southport town centre, selling poppies and other goods to raise money for the charity.

Poppies are also available during weekends from a pop-up stall within Southport Market as well as from selected outlets in every part of Southport, with the full list below.

You may also see local cadets selling poppies at locations around Southport.

Southport Royal British Legion operates a community hub on Wesley Street in Southport town centre as well as organising the annual Remembrance services and other events.

People are now being sought to help the Legion with this year’s appeal.

Southport Royal British legion Chair Major Nick McEntee said: “Do you have an hour or two to help us sell poppies after the launch?

“Please get in touch and we will give you the finer details.

“Thank you to all of the organisations who have already ordered their poppy wreaths for Remembrance Sunday or otherwise. If you haven’t ordered one or need one, please use this link, to order directly with us here in Southport:

“You can then collect your wreath from our hub on Wesley Street, just give us a few days!

“As we did last year we are operating Poppy Appeal Community Hubs with central locations across the Southport area, where you can go and buy your poppy.

“There will be a Poppy Hub near you.”

“We no longer put poppies and tins in every shop or venue, this was a huge task that took weeks of planning and weeks of delivering. We want to make this as efficient as possible in order to maximise fundraising.

“You’ll also find us out and about in Southport’s wonderful pubs, bars and eateries over the next few weeks with our buckets and card machine…. Come and say hello!

“Last year you helped us raise over £30,000 for the appeal, in just two weeks. Thank you.”
