Southport Royal British Legion has officially launched its 2025 Poppy Appeal.

The charity carried out the launch next to the new life-size Supermarine Spitfire which has taken pride of place in the Town Hall Gardens on Lord Street.

The Spitfire has been created from crochet in collaboration between the Royal British Legion, the Southport Hookers and Merseyside Polonia, to recognise the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II.

The Poppy Appeal launch took place ahead of this year’s Remembrance Sunday event, which will take place on Sunday 9th November 2025.
