A well-known pub landlord in Southport has MURDER in mind – and you’re all invited!

Dave Langshaw, who runs the historic Hesketh Arms pub in Churchtown, is among people taking part in this year’s Jail and Bail fundraiser for Queenscourt Hospice.

He will be among a dozen local people desperately trying to earn £999 in ‘bail’ money to escape being ‘jailed’ in this fun event on Friday 7th June 2024.

As part of his fundraising, Dave is organising a special ‘Hotel Of Horror’ murder mystery night at The Hesketh Arms pub.

It will take place on Friday, 31st May 2024, starting at 6pm.

Tickets for the night are £35 and include:

– Live music from Phil Thomas from 6pm

– A complimentary drink upon arrival

– Delicious buffet spread

– Engaging ‘who done it’ murder mystery

– Raffle and auction excitement

To secure your tickets, simply contact our pub and ask for Chloe, the Assistant Manager on 01704 509548 or pop in and one of the team members will be able to assist you in securing a ticket.

Dave said: “We would love people to join us for our special  ‘Hotel Of Horror’ event. It’s going to be a great night!

“We’ve had lots of interest already, with tickets limited.

“Queenscourt is a superb local charity to support and I hope people will come and join us on the night.”

Dave has become a popular community figure in the local community since taking over a landlord at The Hesketh Arms.

Dave and his team have taken part in various local events including the Churchtown Christmas Fayre.

His Jail and Bail ‘crime’ has been set as ‘pouring on the persuasion one pint at a time’.

Later this summer he will lead a substantial transformation of The Hesketh Arms, restoring and maintaining heritage features while introducing new elements for customers to enjoy.

Every penny raised through Jail & Bail will go towards Queenscourt Hospice, which provides care and support for residents across West Lancashire, Southport and Formby, 365 days a year.

Queenscourt is staging this fundraiser in collaboration with Stand Up For Southport 10am-3pm on Friday, 7th June 2024 at Access Point, based inside the former Southport Magistrates’ Court building, on Albert Road in Southport.

A handful of other local ‘criminals’ have already had their collars felt – organisers are looking forward to bringing them together in June as a ‘chain gang’.

Several local businesses are supporting the initiative on the day.

Queenscourt Hospice is a local charity that provides support for the people of West Lancashire, Southport and Formby.

Queenscourt provides access to specialist palliative care either at home (including care homes), hospital or in Queenscourt via the Inpatient Unit or as an outpatient. Queenscourt at Home supports patients, and those important to them, to be cared for in their own home, if that is their preference.
