Southport music legend Marc Almond has revealed his New Year’s resolutions for 2023.

The star, who has sold over 20 million singles worldwide with hits including ‘Tainted Love’ and ‘Something’s Gotten Hold Of My Heart’, says he is determined this year to “not to do anything I don’t want to just because I feel I have to or because someone wants me to do it”.

Marc is a passionate ambassador for Southport.

Last Christmas and new year on his return home he encouraged people to support Southport Little Theatre, and suggested that Southport could become a “Brighton of the North” as a home to creatives from across the country.

On New Year’s Day he posted: “Blowing away the cobwebs on the first day of the year . Fresh air is always a good way to start the year.

“Full of positivity and enthusiasm for 2023…… well that’s how it usually starts anyway.

“The only resolution i’m making is to not to do anything I don’t want to just because I feel I have to or because someone wants me to do it saying it’s for my own good… or for my career for God’s sake. . I think we’re a bit past that don’t you?

“Career’s currently in Indian Summer and Autumn is my favourite time… but possibly a freezing Winter is approaching.

“Really just want to be growing trees and returning to Earth. Too long in the tooth to be told what to do.

“Life in black and white is always more dramatic. Blow away your cobwebs and have a good year. Diet starts….. tomorrow.”
