Southport Market is back open today after its winter break!

600 Degrees, which provides delicious authentic Neapolitan pizza, is among traders looking forward to a busy year ahead.

Last year was one of change, with an extensive scheme of £6.25 million public realm improvements taking place throughout most of the year around the Market, on King Street, Market Street and Eastbank Street.

The changes have created a better looking environment with the Market Street area to the side of Southport Market fully pedestrianised.

It will allow new events to take place, such as last year’s Coastal Jam live music event, and the new Artisan Market which starts in March.

There is lots of space for people to sit outside while they eat, drink and enjoy what’s on.

Inside the venue, Senior General Manager Jordan Khokar has been busy lining up a series of new events in the Extravaganza events space.

Southport Market is home to a series of local independent traders serving food from around the world, including 60 Degrees; Brunch N’ Bagel; Pitamu; Cake Corner; Pasta 51 Express; Little Korean Kitchen; and Lenny’s Smashport.

To the front of the building is Blackhurst Butchers’, which has been trading for over 50 years, while Southport Market bar, operated by Mikhail Hotel And Leisure Group, offers a wide range of cold and hot drinks.

Southport Market was transformed in 2021 into a stylish food, drink and events venue thanks to a £1.4 million transformation led by Sefton Council, with the aim of the site acting as a catalyst for regenerating the area and attracting more new businesses to open nearby.

Now that the public realm work is complete, people are invited to go and explore what’s on offer in the Market Quarter area, which hosts several quality local independent businesses including Connolly’s Irish pub; Catherine’s restaurant and events; Season Coffee, Bar & Kitchen; New China City; Southport Market Blinds; The Plant Room; Eva’s Sewing Room; Southport Market Blinds; Harp Coffee & Games; Quicksilver Music; The Platinum Salon; Christopher Maerevoet hair salon; Lectric Eye; Checkout Darts; Lings on Kings; The Barner’s Parlour; Mike Smith Guitars; The Cake Box; Maestro Barber Shop; and others.

600 Degrees has been one of Southport Market’s success stories since it was one of the founding food outlets to open when the transformation was completed in July 2021.

The business has become a popular outlet in recent years, with its hand-made, world class Neapolitan pizzas.

600 Degrees owner Dan Johnstone said:

“600 Degrees has continued to go from strength to strength. After building our business through outside catering, we were really excited to be one of the first businesses to open as part of the new-look Southport Market when it was transformed into a food, drink and events venue in July 2021.

“Being in Southport Market has been a huge success for us. It has allowed us to grow and develop as a business, expanding with a new outlet, creating more jobs in the local area.

“I’m excited for what 2026 has in store for us at Southport Market now the Market Quarter redevelopment has been completed. I know there are big plans to develop events both inside and outside the market.

“It’s great working with Southport Market Senior General Manager Jordan Khokar, he has really built up the events programme since he’s arrived. It’s great to see things like the Comedy Pub Crawls, the Comedy Bingo Winter Socials, and the music events such as Ibiza Classics, Supersonic, and The Greatest Musicals Disco.

“There is always something going on here, so many reasons for people to come in and enjoy spending time here.

“It’s brilliant to be back open again!

“This is sign to be such an exciting year for Southport with The Open golf championship coming in July, along with exciting brand new events such as Lightport (14th-16th February 2026) Cristal Palace (3rd-4th April 2026), the Big Top Festival (2nd-3rd May 2026) and Books Alive! (24th-31st October 2026).

“That’s in addition to the busy regular events such as the Southport Flower Show, Southport Air Show and others.

“We love being part of Southport Market.

“We’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back.”

He had taken 600 Degrees to local events and food festivals before the move.

It followed Sefton Council’s £1.4 million transformation of the venue into a stylish food, drink and events venue.

600 Degrees was established in 2017, initially catering for outside events, before opening in the market four years later.

It was launched when Dan and his wife went to the Amalfi coast of Italy on their honeymoon, also spending time in Naples, the home of Neapolitan Pizza.
