Mike Smith will perform at Southport Jazz Festival

Hundreds of music lovers are heading to Southport to enjoy the 2024 Southport Jazz Festival, sponsored by Chapelhouse Motor Group.

Ticket sales have seen “a significant increase” after the success of last year’s event.

Festival goers are in for a treat with 10 shows across three days and nights at The Grand on Lord Street in Southport town centre from Friday, 2nd February to Sunday, 4th February 2024.

One show has already sold out while others are close, although tickets are still available for many of the shows which are available at: southportjazz.co.uk

People are coming to Southport Jazz Festival from all corners of the UK, in a huge boost to local hotels, restaurants, shops and other local businesses.

Festival directors Jez Murphy, Emma Holcroft and Cliff Ray said: “We are all set up at The Grand and ready to go!

“Ticket sales are significantly higher than last year already, and are still selling well through our Southport Jazz Festival website.

“It is all going better than we thought, better than we hoped.

“We were determined to bring some of the biggest names in jazz to Southport this year and we are delighted to be hosting performers including Clare Teal, Joe Stillgoe, Matt Ford and others.

“Friday night’s show, the Swingtime Big Band featuring Matt Ford and Emma Holcroft, has already sold out, while there are only a handful left for Clare Teal on Saturday night.

“Lots of the shows are selling really well, and we are excited to be welcoming some very busy audiences.

“The response from people to this year’s festival has been brilliant.

“We are really pleased to be welcoming visitors from all over the UK. We will be seeing guests coming from the far north of Scotland; from Bournemouth on the south coast; from Wales; from Yorkshire; lots of people coming from London.

“It has seen a big boost to local hotels such as the Lord Street Hotel, The Bold Hotel and others.

“Last year it gave a huge boost to lots of nearby restaurants and other local restaurants too which was great to see, hopefully we’ll be seeing more of that this year too.

“One thing we are noticing this year, particularly for the evening shows, is that lots of festival-goers have booked dinner at venues such as The Grand and elsewhere ahead of seeing the performances.
