Southport Golf Academy is inviting people to enjoy a taster day for people living with disability.

The special event will take place on Thursday 22nd June 2023 at the facility at Leisure Lakes, The Gravel, Mere Brow, between Southport and Preston.

A Southport Golf Academy spokesperson said “We are hosting a special day to support the Disabled Golf Association in their aim of reminding all people with additional needs that golf is available to them.

“We are inviting all specialist groups, associations and charities to come along at 11am on Thursday 22nd June to see just how our facilities can be used to help with the objective of helping to create ways for people to get involved when they perhaps did not know they could.

“Later in the day from 12.30pm until 3pm individuals living with disability can come together with their carers, and try the game, with guidance from our coaches, to whatever level they can reach.

“Book here.

“Please take time to read the short article on our website that might inspire many who did not think golf, or aspects of golf would be an option.

“Also have a look at the work of the DGA here

“If you could share the news with as many as you can that might enjoy the experience we would be grateful.”

Established in 2011, Southport Golf Academy is owned and operated by the Carpenter family; Richard, Gail and James.

From the beginning, it was always their goal to provide a facility that was welcoming, u-restrictive and offered the opportunity for anyone to try golf.
