All are invited to the new Southport Flower Festival taking place this weekend.
The free event will take place inside the beautiful Wayfarers Arcade on Lord Street in Southport town centre from 11am-4pm on Saturday (29th March 2025), the day before Mother’s Day.
There is lots to enjoy with artisan stalls, live music, entertainment, food and drink, workshops, craft activities and more.
The Southport Flower Festival is part of the new Creative Village initiative which sees innovative events taking place inside the arcade on a monthly basis, including last month’s highly successful Venetian Carnival.
Come into Wayfarers Arcade and discover:
● Living Spring Wreath workshop held by Emma’s Wild Garden
● Children’s Aromatherapy Bath Bag workshop by Aimee Bryne from Massage Therapy Rooms
● Grassheads Workshop from Websters Turf
● Floral Art Workshop in the Coffee House (11am-1pm walk in session)
● Herb & Planter Workshop by the Young Farmers’ Association
There are charges for some activities but people don’t need to book in advance.
Every workshop except for the Bath Bag & Living Spring Wreath will be £5 per person to participate.
There will be a presence by Southport Flower Show, with the opportunity to buy Flower Show tickets – which includes an £11 saving off the gate price for PR8 and PR9 residents.
Wayfarers Arcade will be releasing a full schedule of events over the coming days, with more details on their social media pages.
For food and refreshments you can savour delicious tray bakes, including gluten free options, from Birkdale Cakes; plus soup & sourdough and open sourdough sandwiches along with a lovely selection of pastries and hot drinks from The Engine Room Coffee House; and a full menu at the Pudding & Pie cafe.
Visitors will be able to try floral themed drinks, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, served from a rustic floral bar in the Dome.
There will be music provided by an accordionist.
Clown Eckie will be entertaining visitors ahead of the new Museum Of Buffoonery opening at Wayfarers Arcade in April.
All the shops, cafes, art galleries, barbers, beauty salons and other local businesses inside Wayfarers Arcade will all be open.
Dr. Eric Lybeck from Wayfarers Arcade said:
“We can’t wait to welcome everyone to our Southport Flower Festival this weekend with lots happening for visitors to enjoy. Call in and take a look around!
“We saw such a huge response to our Venetian Carnival last month and we are keen to build our Creative Village events so they are bigger, better, and more exciting each time.
“Expect the unexpected and discover some surprises.
“Our new Museum of Buffoonery is due to open inside the arcade this April, and Saturday will be your opportunity to enjoy a sneak preview, and to see Clown Eckie performing in person.
“We are already planning our next Creative Village days out – make sure you mark them in your diary. There will be something very different happening every time.”
Southport Flower Festival is among the regular ‘Creative Village’ events due to take place with the ambition of welcoming more visitors, bringing a new vibrancy into the arcade and attracting potential new traders.
Future Creative Village dates at Wayfarers Arcade include:
3rd May – May Day
31st May – Global Village
28th June – Kupala Night
2nd August – Lughnasadh
30th August – Michaelmas
27th September – Beer Street at the Rushbearing Festival
31st October & 1st November – Halloween / Samhain
27th November – Lancashire Day, and the launch of the Christmas Market until 28th December.
Existing tenants will be at the forefront, invited to display what they have to offer as part of the fairs.
They are a fabulous opportunity for other businesses which may want to come in and sell their goods and gauge for themselves whether Wayfarers Arcade would be a good long-term fit for them.
