Southport FC is keen to welcome spectators back into the Pure Stadium this December after Southport was placed into the new Tier 2 Category.
The Tier 2 measures allow a limited number of fans to attend games, while those in Tier 3 areas will not be allowed to allow spectators.
The Government revealed its new Tier areas earlier today.
Fans have not been able to watch Southport play live since the Covid-19 pandemic saw UK cases rise in March.
Clubs were hoping to allow people back into grounds for the start of the new National League North season in October, but a ban was put in place eight days before the season was due to start due to the sudden start of the second Coronavirus wave.
Southport FC officials are now seeking permission from the National League and the Safety Advisory Group to allow fans back, while also seeking to rearrange a couple of fixtures.
A club spokesperson said: “In respect of the Government’s announcement that the Liverpool City region will be placed in Tier 2 we have agreed with Alfreton to move our fixture from Saturday 28th November to Saturday 5th December and with Farsley Celtic to move that match from 1st December to 2nd December – both these amendments are subject to National League approval.
“We have submitted our Stage 5 protocols (playing with fans) to the League and our Safety Advisory Group.
“We will work closely with our partners to ensure we can facilitate fans for these matches, however, this is not a guarantee and we await approval.
“We posted out uncollected season tickets and membership cards by 2nd class post yesterday (25/11/20).”
