Southport FC are already making plans to tackle the 2023/24 season with “a much better squad, and a much better team”.
The pledge was made by Southport FC Manager Liam Watson following Saturday’s 3-1 defeat by Kidderminster Harriers.
It was the Sandgrounders’ seventh defeat in a row in their final Home game of the season, in front of a crowd of 1,080 loyal supporters.
Speaking about the club’s plans for next season, Liam Watson said: “We’ll have a much bigger budget, we’ll have a much bigger squad, a lot stronger squad, and a much better team.
“That all comes down to a lot of people’s hard work and an awful lot of expenditure that we shouldn’t have had to spend, but we did.
“We don’t have any debts as a football club which is somewhat amazing.
“And we have got people who have worked their socks off morning, noon and night actually making this a better football club for us all to enjoy.”
Southport FC are 18th in the National League North table, three points above the relegation zone with one game left to play, but with a goal difference seven goals better than Blyth Spartans in the final relegation spot.
Their final game is away at Leamington next Saturday (29th April).
