Southport Football Club is inviting people to join them for an Open Training Session and a change for togetherness on Tuesday 29th July 2025, on the first anniversary of the Southport tragedy.

A Southport FC spokesperson said:

“We’re pleased to announce that we will be hosting an Open Training Session at Haig Avenue on Tuesday 29th July 2025.

“This date marks one year since the horrific tragedy in our town, and allows us to bring together the community in a family-friendly environment.

“Tickets for the evening are free, but should be secured in advance to allow us to manage numbers efficiently. There will also be the opportunity for attendees to purchase refreshments at the ground.”

Southport FC Chief Operating Officer Andy Burgess said:

“We’re pleased that we’re able to invite our supporters into Haig Avenue to watch the players take part in the evening’s training session.

“This will give fans a closer look at our squad being put through their paces by our new management team, and an opportunity for them to meet the group, get autographs and photos and chat with the players and staff.

“We also want to offer an opportunity for the community to come together to mark the first anniversary of the awful events of last year that happened just around the corner from us.

“We will take a moment during the event to observe a silence and remember the little girls who so tragically lost their lives, and we hope as many people as possible are able to join us on what will be a poignant and emotional evening.”
