A football lover who has devoted the past 15 years of his life to helping Southport FC has been awarded the Vanarama National North Volunteer Of The Month Award.
Noel Warham was given the accolade as a coach and manager of Southport FC’s women’s team, as a Trustee of the Community Trust and Chairperson of the Community Teams Committee.
A Vanarama spokesperson said: “Everyone in the area knows Southport have local superstars keeping things ticking over at their club.
“But Noel Warham, they feel, is someone whose hard work really needs to be highlighted.
“His role has been carried out with enthusiasm since he first put his hand up nearly 15 years ago – and he’s only just getting started!
“His involvement stretches back to 2008, and he has been involved as a coach and manager of Southport’s women’s team, as a Trustee of the Community Trust and Chairperson of the Community Teams Committee.
“That encompasses all teams below the men’s first team – he oversees a total of 21 sides.
“He clearly knows what he’s talking about and it’s a good job as he often stands-in as the club’s PA announcer when needed!”
Noel said: “Not going to lie, this was a huge surprise, I had no idea I had been nominated!
“I’m honoured and humbled by this award.
“There are so many fantastic volunteers, at Southport FC in grassroots sport and so many other areas and all of them deserve recognition – this is for them.”
