Southport FC will be turning Scarborough yellow this weekend as they raise money for the Marie Curie charity.
Fans travelling to the Yorkshire seaside town this Saturday (25th March 2023) are being asked to wear yellow or Hawaiian shirts.
Supporters will be collecting funds for the charity around pubs in the resort ahead the match at Scarborough, which kicks off at 3pm.
A Southport FC spokesperson said: “A number of Southport FC fans are travelling to Scarborough for the weekend and as has been a bit of a tradition, certainly before Covid they will all be dressing up in yellow and will be collecting on behalf of Marie Curie around the pubs of Scarborough.
“It started in memory of a couple of supporters who were top Sandgrounders such as Mark, Brom & Tommy “Not” Wright.
“The theme is “Turning the Town Yellow” and we are encouraging everyone who attends to wear yellow to show support.
“As many away fans as possible at Scarborough are asked to wear yellow / Hawaiian Shirts etc and to look out for the group and make a contribution into the collection tins.”
Marie Curie cares for over 40,000 terminally ill people a year in the UK.
Marie Curie Nurses work on the front line, night and day, in people’s homes across the UK, providing hands-on care and vital emotional support.
The charity’s nine hospices offer the reassurance of specialist care and support, in a friendly, welcoming environment, for people living with a terminal illness and their loved ones around the UK.
