Last Wednesday (3rd September 2025), The Rotary Club of Southport Links welcomed two engineering students from Southport College to their fortnightly meeting.

The two, Rowan Ryder (left) and Bailey Thompson (right), shown with Club President Rtn. Nick Philpott had been sponsored by the club to attend the residential Rotary Youth Leadership Award at Arthog in Wales for a week last August.

The presentation provided by these confident and enthusiastic young men was enjoyed by members and guests, confirming that with opportunity and encouragement the younger generations of today will act responsibly, representing well the Southport community far and wide.

Rotary is a truly international organisation, with some 33,000 clubs and over a million members represented in more than 200 countries worldwide.

They welcome new members interested in having fun while ‘giving something back’ to the community. Fresh ideas and enthusiasm are the life blood of any organisation!

The Rotary Club of Southport Links supports small local charities such as Forum Housing and the Southport Spinal Unit Action Group, to larger international charities such as Shelterbox. The club also gets involved in raising funds to help at times of international crisis and disaster such as the 2004 tsunami and more recently, the typhoon that has so terribly affected the Philippines.
