Carran Waterfield, a Southport-based author and notable performance maker, has announced the release of her new book, Pink Granite.

The new book is published today (Wednesday 16th October, 2025).

This young adult historical fantasy invites readers into the world of orphaned sisters Sarah and Ella One Ear, strangely familiar inhabitants of the Brinepoint archives, and experts in the rites and practices of the former quarrying village community..

Set in Brinepoint, Pink Granite follows Redhair and Daffodil Friend as they uncover phantoms from another era in a sacred book of mind-boggling prophecies.

Local author Carran Waterfield has released a compelling new book called Pink Granite

Readers will meet the One Ear quarriers during the Angry Time, when assemblies at the Green Circle and Blessing Hut were frequent and necessary.

The story introduces memorable characters such as Great Old White Beard, Tommy and Susan Left Foot, and Jimmy-who-went-over-the-edge, while exploring why Sarah and Ella are drawn to their Great Great Granny’s rituals and the quest to save the villagers from a grave mistake.

Pink Granite is the exciting prequel to Waterfield’s first book, Redhair and Daffodil Friend.
