Few people in Southport love Christmas as much as ASDA Community Champion Sharon Gregory-Wareing!
The creative community leader, who is a volunteer in Southport In Bloom Garden Volunteers and was recently appointed to the Southport BID board, loved making festive scenes for people to enjoy.
An ASDA spokesperson said: “Sharon from our Southport store is pulling out all the stops to make this a wonderful Christmas for her local community – including spending every evening for the last couple of months creating this model scene to bring a little festive cheer to a nearby community centre.
“The scene’s now on display at Woodvale and Ainsdale Community Association, which has also received a £1,600 grant from the Asda Foundation to help fund wellbeing classes in the new year.”
Woodvale and Ainsdale Community Association Centre manager Sarah said: “It’s absolutely beautiful, there’s so much detail in it.
“We can’t thank Sharon enough. She’s a wonderful person and what she has done is really special.
“A lot of people who live on their own often don’t put up their own decorations at home so we like to make the centre nice and welcoming and bring a little bit of joy to people.”
Sharon Gregory-Wareing said: “I made a 12ft long window display for our store last year and Sarah said how good it looked so I said I’d create one for them!
“I download the templates free of charge from the internet and print them on cardboard, cut them out and stick them together with hot glue. You do need a lot of patience.
“ I’m really pleased with how well it’s come out. I love doing things like this.”
