Southport and Birkdale Sports Club is holding a Cricket and Beer Festival

Southport & Birkdale Sports Club is inviting people to its S&Beer Fest taking place this summer.

The Cricket and Beer Festival will take place at the club, on Trafalgar Road in Birkdale, from Friday, 27th August until Bank Holiday Monday, 30th August.

It will be the perfect way for families to end this year’s school summer holidays in style, taking place on the last weekend before children head back to school.

S&B Chairman Andrew Carney said: “We are thrilled and delighted to announce the inaugural S&Beer Festival at Southport & Birkdale Sports Club and we welcome the people of Southport and beyond to four days of family fun entertainment food drink and sport over the August bank Holiday weekend.”

S&B has launched the event thanks to support and advice from Chorley Cricket Club, which has held four similar festivals of its own.

Sponsors already on board include: Spar, D’Vine Catering, We Love this and Love Lane.

This will be a Cricket Beer Food and Entertainment Festival first and foremost with a number of supporting themes to attract a significant number of visitors.

The themes are: Cricket, Food, Real Ale Bar, Gin / Rum & Prosecco Bar and Entertainment – Music, Bands, Disco Kids Play Zone

All local residents will be briefed beforehand and given a special free entry.

There won’t be an entrance fee to the event but instead each customer can buy an engraved glass and a programme and a pint of Real Ale or Glass of Prosecco for £5.

Over the course of the four days cricket will take place as follows ;

  •         Day 1 – S&B Invitation XI v League XI playing the new Hundred format starting at 6pm and finishing at 8.15pm
  •         Day 2 – S&B First XI versus Bootle First XI starting at 11am
  •         Day 3 – Rounders Tournament starting at 11am
  •         Day 4 – The Southport Hundred Championship starting at Midday

D’Vine Catering will supply a “Food Court” concept for each day of the festival.

There will be an extensive selection of real ales and ciders on sale provided by some of the best breweries in the country..

There will be 15 pumps from 15 different breweries and 30 barrels of real ale and cider and each pump will be sponsored.

Visitors will be able to enjoy live entertainment on each night of the Festival, with artists and bands to be confirmed.

The outdoor nets will be taken down and that area will be nominated as the Kids Zone including Bouncy Castle, Competitions, Small Games, Children’s Entertainer etc.

VIP Packages will be created with dedicated service in an enclosed area.
