Serena Silcock-Prince was among inspirational businesswomen from across the UK invited to 10 Downing Street in London for the 2023 MPHERoes celebration.
The prestigious annual event, supported by Savvitas Global and NatWest, aims to salute the nation’s female role models who make a real difference in their communities.
Serena Silcock-Prince is the Operations Manager for Silcock Leisure Group, which employs around 80 employees at Silcock’s Funland, Silcock’s Carousel and Silcock’s Pier Family Restaurant.
They have long provided a big part in Southport’s tourism offer, attracting generations of families to the seaside resort and ensuring they leave with happy memories.
In September, Silcock’s Carousel was awarded the title of the fourth best seaside attraction in Britain.
The beautiful Victorian era attraction was a popular choice with members of the public voting in the first ever Bucket and Spade List 2023, organised by the The Seaside Heritage Network.
The attraction was recognised in the Liverpool City Region Tourism Awards last year.

Silcock Leisure Group is also a huge supporter of community events.
The business is sponsoring the Southport Santa Sprint for Queenscourt Hospice for the 14th year in a row this December; was a sponsor for this year’s Ainsdale Show; and played a part in the success of Southport’s first ever Jail and Bail event which raised over £25,000 for Queenscourt Hospice.
Silcock Leisure Group also supported Southport Royal British Legion as it organised the royal visit by Princess Anne to commemorate the Centenary of Southport War Memorial.
She said: “It was a huge honour to be nominated for the MPHERoes celebration and invited to attend 10 Downing Street!
“It’s a day I’ll never forget and I feel very proud.
“It was lovely to be recognised. It was such a wonderful experience.

“I am happy to be able to do my little bit, but we all want the same thing for Southport.
“We all want to see it become a better place for all, we all want to see more investment in our town.
“I met some absolutely amazing, strong and inspirational businesswomen and heard some fantastic stories from them.
“I came away feeling really inspired by what women across the country are doing in their communities.
“There was a business which had been started by a mother and daughter, there was a lady who had started a yoghurt business which now has its products stocked in big retailers, there were others I spoke to who had a real story to tell.
“It was a wonderful experience to be able to walk into 10 Downing Street for the first time.
“I saw the famous LS Lowry painting which hangs on the wall, which includes a fairground ride with the Silcock name on it.
“When you walk up that famous 10 Downing Street winding staircase and see all the photos of Prime Ministers from over the years it is an amazing sight.
“It is a place really steeped in history.

“I would like to thank Damien Moore for nominating me and also for the work he does as Southport MP, which includes highlighting the urgent need to secure the funding needed to restore and repair Southport Pier.
“We all want to make Southport the best it can be. I was born in Southport and love our town.
“It’s a wonderful place with lots to offer. Let’s all stand up for Southport.”
Southport MP Damien Moore said: “It was a privilege to welcome the Operations Manager for Silcock Leisure Group, Serena Silcock-Prince, to 10 Downing Street, to congratulate her; and the Silcock family on their outstanding commitment to Southport’s economy and residents.

“From sponsoring Southport’s Santa Sprint for Queenscourt Hospice, to Sphynx Tennis Club, to the Ainsdale Show, and more, Serena’s entrepreneurial spirit, generosity, and tireless investment in our town and future is indisputable.”
