Among the events being hosted in this glorious seaside town, they include the world’s largest chocolate egg hunt, a special meet the dinosaur and tribute acts for the legendary singers Dua Lipa and Robbie Williams.

But there’s more too, so here’s just some of the Easter events that are guaranteed to be fun for all the family in Southport this year.

This one’s egg-straodinary. The largest chocolate Easter egg hunt, according to organisers, is cracking open right here in Southport.

Families have the chance to win one of eight giant chocolate eggs in a trail which will see gigantic, dinosaur-themed treats hidden in locations across Southport.

Hunters will use an activity map to track down the treats, and six lucky participants will also be chosen at random to win a super-sized chocolate egg standing at 3ft tall and weighing in at a whopping 25kg.

The free event is one of a series of activities in Southport town centre over the Easter break from 29 March to 14 April put on by Southport BID’s DinoTown Southport.

Activity maps will be available soon (in both print and digital form) from locations in the town centre and online via www.southportbid.com/dinotown.

As well as the chocolate egg hunt, families are being offered the chance to Meet the Dinosaurs in Southport this Easter break.

On Good Friday (29 March) and Saturday (30 March), parents and their kids will be transported to the island of Nils Moranis for a fun morning and afternoon with Vera and her pet, Velociraptor Frankie.

It all kicks off from 11am at the Wayfarers Arcade on both days and it’s free to attend. Bookings must be made by telephone, on 07709 766108.

There’s even a dinosaur exhibition in the town centre, the Brickosaurs Exhibition. More than 550,000 toy bricks have been used to build fifteen dinosaurs – guaranteeing huge fun for any prehistoric fans in the family. For more information, go to www.southportbid.com/dinotown.

Southport’s award-winning arts centre, The Atkinson, will be putting on a range of activities for Easter – and it’s sure to be good fun for everyone!

Family events include a drop-in session where the kids can create their own Lego in the Construction Club; Make It Craft Workshop where those participating are urged to get creative; and a play all about Clay, named Claytime. The first two events are free and Claytime is £12.

More productions in the venue’s theatre hall, including a play all about cake and classical music and another looking at an intrepid Antarctic traveller.

TV celebrities are coming together too – catch BBC Bargain Hunt stars Philip Serrell, Charlie Ross and Christina Trevanion for a no-holds-barred stage show on the trials and tribulations of auctioneering. Tickets are £29.

There is also a museum and various exhibitions with their own events on too.
