The Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards are inviting you to send us your suggestions for who should be honoured for providing a lifetime of service to improving life in local communities in Sefton.
We would love to hear your nominations for the Sefton Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by LWC.
Whoever wins this year will be following in some very impressive footsteps.
Last year’s winner was radio legend John Cooper.
Most people locally will recognise John’s voice as a pioneering DJ on radio stations such as Dune FM, and as a presenter on the Cruise Channel – lovely work if you can get it!
A former Southport Ambassador Awards Winner, John has also entertained families for years in his many roles in pantomime, even putting himself in the way of danger to protect young cast members when a pyrotechnic went wrong and flew across the stage one night.
His actions that night – – in which he suffered serious burns to his leg – were typically heroic and selfless.
John is a true legend who has given his all to support other people.

The 2023 winners were Sir Kenny Dalglish and Marina Dalglish, who have been an integral part of life in Southport and across the Liverpool City Region ever since they moved to the town in 1977, when ‘King Kenny’ signed in a British record transfer fee from Celtic.
In the years since this humble, generous, talented, determined couple have had an incredible
impact on the lives of thousands of local people and their families – for which they will forever be grateful.
Sir Kenny and Marina Dalglish have been campaigning, determined and energetic in support of people when they needed it the most, whether in pursuit of better cancer diagnosis, services and support, or in the aftermath of the Hillsborough tragedy.

The search has now begun to find someone truly exceptional to win the 2025 Grand Pride Of Sefton Awards Lifetime Achievement Award, sponsored by LWC.
Organisers are asking people across Sefton to suggest who has gone to extraordinary lengths to improve the lives of others.
You can submit your nominations via the Pride Of Sefton Awards website: prideofseftonawards.co.uk or email: standupforsouthport@gmail.com
The winners and finalists will be honoured at the Grand on Lord Street in Southport on Friday, 25th April 2025.
Submissions are being sought from Southport, Bootle, Crosby, Formby, Maghull, Aintree, and across the borough.
The category is being sponsored by LWC, the largest independent wholesaler of beers, wines and spirits in the country.
Established in 1979, LWC has grown from a small start-up to the “fastest growing privately owned drinks company in the UK”.
With over 8,000 different product lines and over 13,500 on-trade customers, LWC delivers the broadest range and greatest service available in the UK drinks industry.
There will be no shortlist for this title announced prior to this award – instead the judging panel will reflect on potential candidates during the process and the winner will be awarded on the night.
The Pride Of Sefton Awards, organised by Mikhail Hotel and Leisure Group and Stand Up For Southport, is an unmissable fixture in the Liverpool City Region events calendar, in association with In Demand Radio.
The ceremony will be presented by In Demand Radio presenter Claire Simmo.
All those on the shortlist will be invited to a special celebratory meal in the beautiful surroundings of The Princess Grace Suite at The Grand in Southport while the awards are presented, with a stunning night of entertainment planned.
Nominations are still being invited across all 13 categories ahead of the closing date on 1st March 2025.
