More than 90 social workers, foster carers, guardians and fostering professionals came together for a successful fostering conference hosted by the Council’s Fostering Service, celebrating the dedication, expertise and commitment of those who support children and young people across the borough.
The conference provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to network, share experiences and access professional development through a programme of training sessions and interactive activities.

Hosted at the Waterfront Hotel in Southport, the event featured a range of workshops and learning opportunities designed to strengthen understanding, build confidence and enhance the support available to foster families. Attendees also enjoyed lunch and received a goody bag in recognition of their ongoing commitment to fostering and caring for children in Sefton.
Councillor Diane Roscoe, Sefton Council’s Cabinet Member for Children, Schools and Families, said:
“It was fantastic to see so many people from across our fostering community come together for this special event. Our foster carers, guardians and social work professionals play a vital role in helping children and young people thrive.
“This conference provided an important opportunity to learn, share best practice and strengthen relationships across the fostering network. On behalf of Sefton Council, I would like to thank everyone who attended and all those who helped organise such a successful and inspiring day.”
Chris Sexton, Secretary of Sefton Foster Care Association, added:
“The conference was a wonderful example of what can be achieved when we bring together carers, social workers and colleagues who share the same goal of providing the very best support for children and young people.
“The training sessions and activities provided valuable opportunities for learning and reflection, and we’re delighted to have attended such a positive and worthwhile event.”
The conference forms part of Sefton Fostering Service’s ongoing commitment to investing in training, development and support for foster carers and professionals, ensuring that children and young people in care receive the highest quality care and opportunities to flourish.
