It’s been so nice this past week to see a lot of ‘positive’ talk online regarding Southport.

Lord Street is looking amazing as a ‘boulevard of light’ like it used to many years ago and we’re hearing and having many conversations with some fantastic local businesses which are all preparing to re-open the doors again in the near future after what has been a very difficult time for everyone.

The UB40 news announced by the team behind Southport Flower Show at Victoria Park was the icing on the cake, especially after the Town Deal news from last week.

It’s looking like Southport has the potential to have such a bright future ahead of itself and it’s an exciting time to be involved with the town as well as being able to talk about it on Sandgrounder Radio.

Obviously it’s that time of year again, Easter is approaching and our annual Easter Egg Appeal is now in full swing and we are delighted with the response already.

This year the campaign is being supported by some amazing local people, especially by our wonderful friends at Curlett Jones Estates on Lord Street, who have supported a number of our charitable projects in the past.

We have also been bowled over by the number of businesses that have come forward and offered to be drop-off points and even donated eggs to the appeal, including the amazing generosity of the team at Ocean Plaza and McDonalds who we’ve worked together with a number of times over the years. A big thank you goes out to Sharon and the team at Asda for the wonderful donation of eggs to our appeal too.

Working with all these wonderful people helps us enormously, especially with the restrictions meaning that people can only donate as part of an essential journey. Drop-off points are dotted all over town, ensuring that you’re always going to be close-by.

We would love to amass a huge mountain of chocolate eggs and you have a couple of weeks to get yours to us as they need to be with us by 26th March. They will be donated to Alder Hay Children’s Hospital & Charity and Southport Baby Bank PLUS other local charities (depending on how many lovely eggs we collect!)

We’re not asking you to spend a fortune, just pop an extra egg in your basket when you’re shopping  – that egg might not make a difference to you but could make a huge difference to a child’s day!

Drop-off points are:

Curlett Jones Estates – Lord Street

Morrisons – Winter Gardens

ASDA – Central 12

Co-op – Fylde Road

Co-op – Cambridge Road

McDonalds – Ocean Plaza

Linaker Primary School – Sefton St (Pupils only please)

So come on, do something EGGstra special this year – HOP along to the shop and pick out a CRACKing egg or two!
